After completing the 60 weekly modules candidates will attend a 2 week residential component in Edinburgh where the final exam will be undertaken (see below for assessment details).

All candidates will be required to complete 4 units in order to be awarded the DipTESOL.

The 3 hour exam covers Language, Learning and Teaching and Professional development. This exam is externally assessed by Trinity College London and is done during the residential component.

Unit 2 – Coursework Portfolio
The portfolio is comprised of an Observation Instrument, Self-Developmental Record and Independent Research Project. Normally done during the 60 week module stage of the course, this unit is internally assessed by course tutors.

Unit 3 – Interview
Candidates are required to talk on a prepared topic with the examiner and discuss further topics of theory and practice. Additionally, a phonemic transcription must be done during the interview. The interview is carried out during the residential component and is externally assessed by Trinity College London
